GPU miner.. slow?
« on: 30. March 2017, 19:23:42 »
Is more work being done on the GPU miner? And what driver version should I be using? I ask because I have two RX460 4 Gig Vid cards in the Work PC. I just mined for an hour and a half, and only got 2 accepted blocks.
Just seems rather slow.

Hello Grae500,

you read this config here. https://github.com/LIMXTEC/Xevan-GPU-Miner/releases

This works really good.

Kind Regards Christian

I read that.. and still not much of anything in production. Is it recommended solo vs Pool? Been running for 2 days so far pool mining (using the same pool as I use on my CPU miners, yiimp.ccminer.org) and haven't even made a full coin yet from it.

It depend on your hardware also your hashrate... ive ~ 5mhs atm and solo mining win this question for me.

Well I switched over to xevan-mod, and all my issues have gone away.. hash rate up from 538 kh/s to 1.125 Mh/s.
Much better. I'm still returning to all this stuff.. anyone have a good clear guide on setting up solo mining? I'm just using a pair of RX460 4Gig cards atm, so solo mining might not be worth it, but still curious. I've not done any crypto mining in years. (Still kicking myself for destroying my old bitcoin wallet that I used in 2009..)

Edit your Bitsend.conf to :
Quote
rpcuser=worker
rpcpassword=x
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
bind=127.0.0.1
p2pport=8801
rpcport=9998
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
daemon=1
listen=1
use this line for start :

Quote
sgminer.exe --url http://127.0.0.1:9998 --algorithm xevan -u worker -p x -I 12

On a issue with your gfx cards you can try also

Quote
sgminer.exe --url http://127.0.0.1:9998 --algorithm xevan -u worker -p x --text-only -I 12

I guess I'm confused, aren't I supposed to be running some kind of server software? That's where I'm not clear.

ok I *think* I got it working.. but not sure at my current hash rate if it's worth it. At only 1.119 Mh/s Pool mining is probably going to be better for me. Though still struggling to understand how at that hash rate I'm coming up with far less of a payout than my CPU miner that's hashing far less.

Solo mining is worth on ~3mhs + i think, all other will need very long to find a block... But maybe you get some luck :D

In both cases, it gives:
Quote
Probing for an alive pool
127.0.0.1 slow/down or URL or credentials invalid

I'm also struggling getting the solo miner to work. Running "cpuminer-opt-3.6.0-windows"

CPU miner setup:
Code: [Select]
cpuminer-aes-sse42.exe -o http://127.0.0.1:9998 -a xevan -u worker -p x -t 12
pause

bitsend.conf:
Code: [Select]
rpcuser=worker
rpcpassword=x
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
bind=127.0.0.1
p2pport=8801
rpcport=9998
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
daemon=1
listen=1

Getting connection refused error message. Any ideas? Do I have to open any ports or anything like that?

In regards to the Bitsend.conf file.  Do you need to set the perimeters in the wallet to use the GPU mining?

To solo mine, make sure you run the wallet with --server option.  Which I didn't get either.

bitsend.conf:
Code: [Select]
rpcuser=worker
rpcpassword=x
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
bind=127.0.0.1
p2pport=8801
rpcport=9998
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
daemon=1
listen=1
